Menstrual blood 🩸 … the most well-known hormonal secretion, but have you ever thought about how it starts? And how your body decides it’s time for it to flow? Let’s take a look at its journey from inside your body to the outside 👣
🩸 In the first half of the cycle:
The brain sends signals to the ovaries through hormones called FSH and LH.
These hormones stimulate the ovaries to release estrogen and progesterone.
Here, estrogen starts building the uterine lining… as if the body is preparing a “small home” to welcome a baby in case pregnancy occurs.
🩸 In the second half of the cycle:
If pregnancy doesn’t happen, estrogen and progesterone suddenly drop.
This means the uterine lining breaks down… and exits as menstrual blood.
But period blood isn’t just a physical secretion… it’s a message.
🩸 Blood that comes on time and relieves you
🩸 Blood that appears suddenly without a reason
🩸 Light or heavy blood flow
🩸 Blood with an unusual color or strong odor
Each type carries a story… and a message from your body to you.
