What are the stages of Adenomyosis?
Adenomyosis develops in stages and gradually progresses. The most important thing is to be aware and attentive to the condition early on.
Adenomyosis is a medical condition that affects the uterus. Its symptoms are similar to those of endometriosis and fibroids. It occurs when a large number of endometrial cells are found within the muscular wall of the uterus.
When endometrial cells are located in the uterine muscle, they release menstrual flow within the muscle itself, causing internal bleeding. This leads to severe pain as the blood accumulates in the muscle, causing it to swell and triggering the formation of fibrous tissue as a reaction to the inflammation. As a result, a uterus affected by adenomyosis appears larger than normal.
Stage: Early Adenomyosis
In the initial stage, there is minimal infiltration of endometrial tissue into the uterine wall. Symptoms may be mild or even absent, making early detection difficult. However, it’s crucial to never ignore any unusual menstrual pain.
Stage: Moderate Adenomyosis
At this stage, infiltration into the uterine muscle becomes more noticeable, affecting a larger portion of the uterine tissue. Symptoms often include heavy and extremely painful periods, as well as other issues like bloating and discomfort during intercourse.
Stage: Severe Adenomyosis
There is extensive infiltration and deeper penetration of the disease, leading to deformation of the uterus. Symptoms can become very intense and interfere with daily life. Menstrual pain increases significantly, and menstrual bleeding becomes even heavier. It is essential to seek immediate medical attention from experienced doctors who are knowledgeable about the condition. Treatment at this stage usually requires a detailed and intensive treatment plan tailored to each individual case.
